We hosted a free online lecture and workshop with VCFA faculty member Ian Lynam called “Collage Club” on April 26th online.
Over 70 folks showed up, listened to the lecture, and then participated in the workshop. The workshop was an intentionally rather loose affair where all of the participants were encouraged to make collages, share their work, and just talk—in large part, an extension of the kind of community we have at VCFA. We were joined by designers from all over the US, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, Indonesia, Korea, and elsewhere.
Loads of VCFA alumnx, students, and faculty joined, as did other working designers, design researchers, design critics, design historians, a sign painter, a design anthropologist, and folks who just wanted to collage.
Everyone was so productive, exploring a form of making that is often ignored in today’s largely digital world of design. Here, a showcase of a bunch of the work created in the workshop.
Giant thanks to everyone who participated—stay tuned for more free public-facing programming from VCFA’s MFA in Graphic Design soon!
