We are incredibly excited to announce the second of our Guest Designers for the April 2019 VCFA MFA in Graphic Design Residency: Kevin Yuen Kit Lo!
Kevin Yuen Kit Lo is a graphic designer, educator, visual artist, and community organizer based in Montréal/Tiohtià:ke.
He is the principal and creative director of LOKI, a small, multidisciplinary design studio working at the intersection of graphic design and social change. The studio’s practice is rooted in social justice principles, focusing on collaboration and community building, cultural production and publishing, activist research and political mobilization. LOKI works with cultural organizations and community groups, within and alongside social movements to build a vibrant, militant, and resilient culture of resistance. LOKI’s work has been a part of many social movements, including the Québec Student Strike of 2012, Palestinian solidarity and the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign, Solidarity Across Borders migrant justice campaigns, and anti-fascist organizing since 2015.
Prior to founding LOKI, Kevin spent many years as a designer and art director at various international communications/advertising agencies and as design director at a high-end fashion company, racking up accolades and awards. In parallel, he created agitprop for grassroots social movements while theorizing design’s potential for revolutionary change. LOKI was founded to bring these experiences together under one roof.
Kevin holds a MA in Graphic Design from the London College of Printing, and a Graduate Certificate Degree and BFA from Concordia University in Montréal, where he currently teaches in the Design and Computation Arts department.Nike sneakers | Nike Shoes
