VCFA Co-chair Ian Lynam has a new essay in the debut issue of Modes of Criticism, a new design journal and blog edited by Francisco Laranjo, who sums up the journal’s first issue thus:
At a time when it is fundamental to be critical, the word has become ubiquitous, cool, vague and open for debate. The first issue of Modes of Criticism constitutes a critique of critical design, with particular attention to graphic design. It compiles a variety of contributions, ranging from academic to informal, from interview to fiction, with the goal of challenging and questioning what thecritical in design can and should be.
Modes of Criticism #1 features writing by Randy Nakamura, Brave New Alps, Luiza Prado, Pedro Oliveira, Cameron Tonkinwise, James Langdon and Kenneth Fitzgerald.
