Matthew Monk, Academic Dean, founding Faculty Chair of and current faculty in the MFA in Graphic Design, is an award-winning graphic design, artist and inspired educator. He gave a public presentation Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Burlington City Arts as part of AIGA-VT Speakers Series.
In his award-winning graphic design practice, Monk designs books and posters for clients involved with design, art, architecture and education. He has been practicing graphic design, making collage/mixed media paintings, and teaching art and design for over twenty years. The presentation for the AIGA-VT Speakers Series will feature his work in the context of overlapping professional areas: design, mixed media and education.
In Monk’s book design practice, his clients include The National Gallery of Art, Yale University Press, Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Metropolis Books, The Museum of Art at Rhode Island School of Design, and Wellesley College. His work has earned numerous awards and has appeared in Print,Communication Arts, Graphis, ID, Metropolis, and AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers, among others.
